Olympic Style Weightlifting has become increasingly popular, largely due to CrossFit’s incorporation of the lifts in it’s program. CrossFit Wilmington is known for it’s Olympic Lifting program and our incorporation of the lifts in our CrossFit programming. The mature and competitive CrossFit affiliates have all recognized the benefits of Weightlifting and have sought training from Olympic Lifting Coaches like Chris Wilkes and Wilkes Weightlifting. CrossFit Wilmington now offering our own Olympic Lifting Seminars to help CrossFit trainers better understand how to coach the Olympic Lifts properly, seemlessly (vs. just randomly) work them into their program, and develop a dedicated Weightlifting Program separate from their CrossFit.
On February 26th, CFW / Wilmington Weightlifting members will attend and compete in Triad Barbell’s Weightlifting meet. The event is sanctioned by USAW. While you do not have to be a USAW member to compete, the benefits of becoming a member are extensive. Not only will you support the sport of Olympic Weightlifting, but membership also gains you insurance that covers you while you train and compete. Membership is only $40 per year and well worth it.
