Wow that’s strange, I just did my first IF day Monday. I was hungry around 2 but got over it. I had plenty of energy at the gym (more?) . I’ve got a leg of lamb in the oven that’ll be the first thing I eat. \Primal\ is a SFW way to describe how I feel about this lamb right now.

Good stuff Jimmy. It’s actually great to feel all wired. The adrenal system begins to prime you for the “hunt” and it is badass. It is primal.

    Nick is starting tomorrow.

If you want to drop a few pounds, think about this…
If you typically eat 1900 calories / day (mind you, I barely eat that much) and you cut back 200 cal/day to try and loss fat, that is only 1400 calories you’ve cut in a week. It’ll take weeks to lose a few pounds like that.

However, if only once / week you fast for 24 hours, you cut out 1900 calories that week. Now do it twice a week AND cut back to 1700 cal / day.

That is 5200 calories you cut out of your diet in one week. That math just adds up and so will the lbs of fat you LOST.

Thanks Tony for pointing that out. With all the information out there and all the different ways to do paleo or zone (dairy, no dairy, salt, no salt, etc…) Its easy to loose sight of the simplicity of it. Its nice to be reminded that its really that simple.

It seems like many folks over complicate the diet thing to make money. Weight Watchers does points, The Zone uses “blocks”. None of makes any sense when every food label is in grams. I try to adhere to the KISS (keep it simple, stupid) method in everything I do.

The bottom line is this… eat non processed foods that come from the earth. Eat less than you need and you’ll lose fat. Eat enough protein and you won’t lose muscle. Eat enough fat so you heal and recover. Eat carbs only from dark green veggies and stay away from sweet fruit.

If you make it any more complicated, you’re setting yourself up for failure.

    How much is enough?
I weight 210lbs and train. I try to eat 140grams of Protein, 140 grams of Fat, and less than 80grams of carbs each day. That’s 2140 calories a day. Realistically, I only get 85-90% of that. So I get about 2000 cal / day.

Base your numbers off that. Or…

Most ladies need 70 grams of protein a day. 80 grams of fat. 50 grams of carbs (or less). That’s only 1200 calories a day.

Now, go to http://www.dailyburn.com and plug in how much you ate yesterday. Most ladies find out they’re eating almost as much as I do each day And then they wonder why they “can’t” lose weight. That is why I keep pressing that even on strict paleo you can get fat.

    Hope that helps even more.
