The “Core 4” are the four supplements we all can benefit from adding to our diets. They are EPA/DHA (fish oil), V-D3, Zinc, and Magnesium.  Unless supplementing aggressively, everyone you know is deficient in each of these and everyone you know will get healthier  if they supplemented with each. I base all my nutrition and supplementation recommendations around health first.  I get improved performance from my athletes by improving their health and then addressing recovery and performance type supplements.

    Ben, I’ve found it unnecessary for everyone. If you cut out grains, eat meat protein, and the healthy fats it takes only a bit more time to correct the lack of acid in the stomach. So for the average person, not too far gone, the cost didn’t support the slight time decrease.

    For someone who’s been on a primarily grain and junk food diet or a vegan/vegetarian (actually, one is the same as the other) for years, they get the HCL almost everytime.
