active careActive Care Chiropractic has been helping Crossfit athletes for years, and is now expanding by adding a second office in the same building as Crossfit Wilmington.  Active Care Chiropractic utilizes Active Release Techniques, a muscle therapy that is the official treatment of the Ironman Triathlon series.  By combining traditional chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Techniques, and functional movements we have been able to treat a variety of conditions rather than just low back and neck pain.  We’ve been very successful with conditions such as Olympic lifting wrist pain, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff syndrome, shin splints, etc.

At Active Care, one of our biggest priorities has always been to strive for wellness, rather than only treating symptoms.  We want to keep athletes’ bodies tuned up so they can do 20 more wall balls, cut 30 more seconds off of a timed workout, or crush their deadlift record.  Crossfitters demand a lot out of their bodies, and now we can be right here to keep them doing what they love.

fire vs police
CFW Instructors Andy, Josh and Ronny after the 1st Annual Wilmington Fire vs’ Wilmington Police Charity Hockey Game on Saturday night. It was a hard fought contest as WFD came away with the victory and over $5,000 was raised for the Fallen Firefighters Memorial.  A big thanks to the FD and PD for allowing CFW be a sponsor.

This week test of the strength programming you’ve worked on in the last 8-12 weeks.  To perform your best on the 1rm maxes of Back Squat, Bench Press (Tues), Deadlift (Thur), and Shoulder Press (Fri) you will need to focus on them by foregoing other supplemental work and get adequate sleep and rest.

Next week we will transition from the current strength/foundation cycle to a speed/power development cycle that begins the incorporation of the Olympic Lifts, their supporting movements and more CrossFit style Metabolic Conditioning (MetCon).

Backsquat – 1RM
New members (less than 5 weeks) at CFW will complete a 5 rep max

Bringing Active Care Chiropractic into the same house as CFW has been an idea in the making for 3 or 4 years. Dr. McGraw and I are very happy to have finally been able to make it happen. Chiropractic care, to me, is like regular vehicle maintenance. If you keep your oil changed your engine life extends dramatically. Active Release Techniques (ART), the type of care Dr. McGraw and his associate, Dr. Bradburn, practice carries that care one step further to cover your muscles and connective tissue. Whether you’ve an new injury in the acute phase or need some “maintenance” on an old injury and scar tissue, ART can help.

For those of you that can’t find the time for regular chiropractic care, soon you will be able to get it at the same place you train each day.

CFW’s priority is your health. Having Dr. Bradburn and Active Care in same building is a huge step in our goal of providing the highest quality health and fitness facility in the world.

I am excited that we are partnering with Active Care Chiropractic, Dr. McGraw and Dr. Bradburn. I have been a patient and advocate for Chiropractic care and Active Release Therapy for the last three years. I have seen great results for myself, my family and our members here at CFW.

McGraw’s Active Release work on my Shoulders, Left Knee, Lower Back, etc. was the Primary Rehab Therapy that enabled me to resume Crossfit training.

I gained ROM in my Left Knee, got my spine propurely alined, and got mounds and mounds of scar tissue FINALLY broken up. Most of these issues had been accumaled from 10+ years of a multitude of improperly treated Injuries.

Without Dr McGraw’s Active Release on Chiropractic Adjustments, I think my absence from CFW would have been Indefinate.
