With the Thanksgiving Holiday upon us Crossfit Wilmington want’s to know “what are you eating for Thanksgiving?”.  We all have the standard fare (turkey, veggies, pies!!…), but is there a recipe you want to share so that we can all work to have a more healthy conscious Turkey Day?  Please post yours to comments.

Crossfit Ocean Isle Beach (CFOIB) presents “Ellen Fights like a Girl” Charity WOD
We have been invited to CFOIB on Saturday, December 3, to participate in a Strong Woman Workout to raise funds for a mother of two boys (ages 3 and 5) who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.  100% of the proceeds go to medical costs and medical expenses for the family.  All fitness levels are welcome!     I have not posted in a while. Over 400 members!! SAWEET! I am looking forward to the Dec 4 Benefit for my friend MSgt Eden Pearl. Every little bit helps. You have no idea what he and his family have been through and continue to go through everyday.

    Now I want to give my HOLIDAY SAFTEY BRIEF…. It is that insane time of year again where we all rush around like crazy people. Just a reminder to take that extra second to look left and right before crossing the street or before you pull out of a parking stall. Slow down and take an extra second to notice your surroundings! NO SALE PRICE is worth an accident! As for all the parties we all seem to HAVE to goto this time of year, have an exit plan, meaning DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! A CAB is so much cheaper then a DUI/DWI and weighs much less on the conscience than killing a family. Be responsible. We all have cell phones, call someone, or save the numer to a cab company that you have checked out and has a good rep. If you are going out of town travel safe, but stay alert. Do not tell the world you are going somewhere by posting it on Facebook. Protect yourself. So travel safe and be smart. We (CFW) are too big and too close to not look out for each other. It is one of the things that seperates us from everything!

    PS – You will see this again.

    Yeah, healthy turkey day recipes…mmm…I think not. There will be LOTS of cardio being done before and after I eat. I am however, trying to avoid the food hangover I get every year. I have to be smarter this year. DR in 21 days!!

    400 members! Ah-mazing! I am very proud to be one of those peeps!

    We are having a gluten free primal thanksgiving, there will be: turkey, capon, savory sweet potato stuffing, GF corn bread stuffing, roasted Brussels sprouts, cauliflower casserole, Smashed potatoes (microwave potatoes until cooked through, then smash them down on a baking sheet, douse them with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and fennel seeds and then put them in the oven to brown until they are as brown as you like), stuffed mushrooms, and gluten free pies, apple from Sugar on Front Street and pumpkin from Sweet T’s. I am looking forward to it!

    Take Ron’s post to heart. As an retired MSGT, he’s seen what happens to on holiday breaks. We overextend our capabilities and push just a little too far. It’s our responsibility as drivers not to hurt others. Be safe… for everyone’s sake.

    Oh… and don’t get trampled to death at Wal-Mart Friday am.
