Nutrition Nexus Classes Postponed
The nutrition classes scheduled at the Reserve in Mayfaire have been postponed. The new dates will be announced soon. All apologies for the inconvenience.
No Supplement Will Fix Your Lacking Diet
CrossFit Wilmington has a “back to the basics” mindset on both training and diet. The program works. The funny thing is, at the beginning of CrossFit Wilmington, I barely mentioned diet. I didn’t think anyone cared to hear about the paleo or zone diets. All I thought CFW was going to do was train CrossFit and Oly lifting. But in May of 2008 I held my first nutrition class. Over 35 people showed up at 7pm to listen about the foundations of paleo feeding. The last question was answered and we all went home at almost 1 am. I was amazed at how many people wanted the information.
At that point I’d been eating paleo (as strictly as I could while deployed) for about six years. I’d never had anyone I’d told about the paleo diet take it seriously before that night. Since then the success stories we’ve had with clients eating paleo and training at CFW have been astounding and the interest in eating healthy has not diminished one bit. CFW’s nutrition classes always have big numbers in attendance. Our nutrition and BioSig consultation services are in high demand. For good reason, many of our members want more than just “eat meat, nuts, dark green veggies, berries, little starch and no processed sugars”.
I am most proud of CFW, and now WSC, when a member tells me we “changed their life” or even “saved their life”. Each of those members will all say they started their return to a healthy life with diet and nutrition they learned about from CFW. In the past six months, the info about sleep I have posted has drastically affected more than twenty (those are the ones I know of) of our clients’ and friends’ sleep… for the better. I have had some come off the powerful sleep aids they were addicted to and switch to the natural alternatives they read about I posted on the website.
In the last year I have put out a lot more info about addressing nutrient deficiencies via dietary supplementation. Anyone who attended one of my first nutrition classes back in May of 2008 knows I’ve really not changed anything. You can look back and find I’ve always urged our members to take fish oil, zinc, magnesium, vitamin D3, BCAAs, and glutamine. I still do. I have added HCL to that list of recommended supplements, otherwise, I have not changed anything.
If you have not noticed, I enjoy writing about things that I know will improve your health, performance and ultimately your life. I study nutrition, and therefore supplements. In most cases, like improving sleep, I learned the hard way… by fixing my own issues. If I can pass on any of my knowledge to you and help you, I will. I appreciate each of you who read our posts. I really appreciate those of you who read it and then ask questions about in hopes of further educating yourselves.
So even though I decided to offer supplements at CFW, do not ever forget, there is not one bottle of any supplement from any company that will replace a complete diet.
A paleo diet high in protein, low in processed carbs, with as close to zero sugar as possible is the
best only way to get healthy and stay that way.
We are sorry about having to delay the Nutrition Nexus Classes. They will rescheduled as soon as possible.
