***Scott over at Tydes Restaurant in Lumina Station gave us two $50.00 gift cards.  So the top performances, male and female, in tomorrow’s WOD will each get one.  Tydes is only two months new, and has one of the best menus (and prices!) in Wilmington.  We recommend them highly.

Self Defense clasess with Aaron (Sensei).  Details coming soon.  Check out this article in The Star News:

John V. and athletes, Carey and Ashley, of CrossFit Cape Fear/Designs in Fitness came from Fayetteville last Friday to train with us.  John is a L3 CrossFit Coach and has years of coaching experience.  Our crew and his spent the afternoon bouncing ideas around.  The positive interaction between the CrossFits of NC is one of the best assets we offer our clients.   Networking with other CFs and thier athletes introduces us to many training styles and ideas.

Hello everyone, If you've read the link / article that is at the top of the page then you know that I am teaching a FREE self-defense course at Port City Gymnastics August 14th 7-9pm. But what it doesn't say, is that I am teaching it again the following Saturday August 16th 8-10am at CrossFit Wilmington! This will be another FREE course! Tony and Darren THANK YOU so much for the asistance and help to our community for letting me do this at CFW. We've almost already filled the class at PCG so call me (910-431-1038) or CFW to register for the Saturday class! We can't let horrific attacks like the one in the paper happen again!! Bring your friends! IT'S OUR TURN TO FIGHT BACK!!

"Jon, what is CrossFit? I like to tell my clients that CrossFit is a program that, b/c it isn't specific, it will prepare them fairly well for any activity they are interested in pursuing. CrossFit is good base training for any activity. But CrossFit isn't an activity or sport. It's training. That's it, that's all. I think too many folks, and obviously yourself included, have become lost in CF. Just because CF has The Games, doesn't make it a sport. Bodybuilding has competitions, but it's not a sport. Those of us that use CF to train for combat, first response, or just base training for a sport have other goals than just a better Fran time." This statement was spot on Tony. Fantastic stuff man. You would think you had stepped on someone's grave with some of the comments that have popped up.

As I have said in the past, if you can't be elite, you might as well pretend. Apparently the ability to think is a lost art in today's society.
