So Meredith turned 52? Happy Birthday!
Maria, how was your post-marathon recovery? and how do you feel CF impacted it?

Ilario… who do you think the "Take a Break" is geared towards! Hahaha. Maria sent me a great email yesterday letting me know how she's doing and what she's doing to recover. Her email sent me in on a renewed hunt for rest and recovery science!

Happy Birthday Mere! Its been great getting to know you, you are always an anwesome push in CF! Hope you are deviating from all your training and diet, and doing it up on your Birthday 🙂

Yep, 52!! …eating right & following CFW's guidelines have given me the looks of someone in their 20s! …as long as we are talking about food… I'm gonna be hitting up Boca's fabulous Sunday Brunch around 11:30 tomorrow- would love for my family to join while I celebrate my bday with 52 rounds of paleo-friendly food 😉 <kids/family members are always welcome of course!>

Happy Birthday Meredith…Matt did you break out the tight pink shirt and hula hoop for her yet?

Happy Birthday Mere! And, personally, hope you are NOT deviating from 'all' your training and diet, yet are still able to live it up on your Birthday 🙂

Ilario, So physically I feel recovered (pretty much) Mentally, I'm still tired. I definitely think crossfit helped with my training, but more importantly it taught me that marathon fitness is not what I want. Mentally, physically and even emotionally a crossfit WOD with your crossfit family is definitely the best form of exercise! Ilario, I wanted to tell you (and the rest of the crew)I am about 3/4 the way through your book- and it is unbelievable. Anyone that hasn't read it, do it now (Except MIke, I'm not finished yet)

Maria, Thank you for your kindness. You know your comment “marathon fitness is not what I want,” really resonated. As CF continues to build, I think interest in marathoning will decrease (it has for me and you!). Don’t get me wrong, running in general (especially for fitness newbies) isn’t going to go away, but the “distance market” is going to splinter and shrivel (ultras, ultra-ultras, etc.). In fact I’d go so far as to say Triathlon’s growth over the last decade will slow or stop as well. CF offers a new “big-balls” testable fitness benchmark and the “side effect” is a physique that is much healthier and attractive then the traditional marathoner’s. And the new movie “Every Second Counts” is gonna generate a bump for CF that won’t come from the couch potatoes as much as from peeling even more folks away from the running/tris.
