” The will to win is important, but the will to prepare to win is vital” – Joe Paterno
45 years or older? Then you’re a Master and you should sign up for the CF Games. Read Scott Smith’s take on it…
“The Crossfit Games are for everybody, especially the Masters crowd. If you are 45 or older I strongly encourage you to give it a try. Let’s face it, we aren’t as strong or fast as we were when we were younger but we can be fitter than we have ever been. It is hard to gauge just how fit we are when we are competing with the young ‘uns so the Games are a perfect opportunity to see how you compare to the people your own age. And here is a secret – the odds of you qualifying for the Finals are much better than for the people who aren’t Masters because there just aren’t many of us competing. The first step takes place in our own gym so there is no travel commitment – only a commitment to train and develop into that beast that lies within. If we can get enough Masters interested, we will organize some Master’s only WODs leading up to the Games. And ladies, this includes you. You are much stronger than you realize when compared to others your same age.”
-Scott Smith, Crossfit Master, USAW 3rd Place National Champion Master, and straight up badass role model for us young’uns.
To borrow a phrase from a song, “I am not as good as I once was, but I am good once as I ever was!” We are an inspiration to the young ‘uns so let’s do our part and show up.
