The Carolina CrossFit Challenge was yesterday and CrossFit Wilmington was well represented. Its hard for me to explain how awesome it was to see our competitors lay it all out against NC’s fittest.
Before I get into all details of the competition, I have to tell you, just as amazing as our competitors were, so were the folks that just came out to support our guys and girls. CFW had 21 competitors in the event. But we had just about as many there to watch the fun. Maura, Jonathan, Brandy and Scott P., Bridgette, Esko and Melody, Chris F., Rachel, Nick, Em, JP, Amy, Mrs. Pat, Jake (we claim ya now Bro), Drew, Andrew, Jinna and Kathleen (still ours!) went all the way to Durham just to support their friends in a little friendly CrossFit competition. You guys rock and the your friends will not forget your support anytime soon, nor will all the other attendees.
I had no less than ten people tell me if they were to leave their gym, they’d want to move to Wilmington to join our bunch. Two of them were other affiliate owners! That says so much about how you guys are seen by others. The same thing happened at the regionals. You all are so friendly and welcoming. I was so proud to see that if we had no athletes in a heat, or our athletes had finished their workout, you all cheered for other affiliate’s guys and girls. It’s that kind of stuff that makes you all stand out as a group. It’s our way and I’m proud to see it in action.
If you attended the Competition, either in support or you competed, post comments about watch you experienced.
Greg of CF Durham briefs the competitors.
Greg, Dave, and CF Durham did a great job with The Challenge.
An event like this isn’t so easy to manage and they pulled it off without a hitch.
Great job and thanks to them!

Julie readies for WOD 1. Meagan getting pre-WOD instructions from her judge, Michelle B., of CF Ft. Bragg. Dawn smiles… I’m guessing she new WOD 1 would go her way.
Can anyone tell me why this is such a bad*ss pic?
CFW had 21 competitors at the challenge, 5 guys in this heat. Dan, Caleb, IP, Justin, and Aaron (just outside the frame). We had an anthlete in almost every heat.
IP reminds us of the quote… "
Quantity is its own quality." – J. Stalin
All eyes were on Josh when started WOD 1. His first two minutes he "close grip snatched"
the barbell like it was a plastic movie prop!
This is what admiration looks like. Nathan watches Dad crush it.

In the left pic Kent is smiling and still thinking he can beat Zach.
Right picture… reality has slapped Kent up side his nugget!
Seriously, Kent rocked out a 9th overall finish in this thing. He’s smaller, lighter, and
quite a bit older than the athletes he competed against and beat.
Always a pleasure seeing Kent and was great meeting Lisa.
Rest and recovery between workouts.
How can three of the toughest chicas around be so cute?
A few months ago Julie G. couldn’t do a pull up.
Since she’s attended every class she could,
spent extra time with our instructors,
and tuned her diet to fuel her progress. Julie travels
all the time, but doesn’t miss workouts. She does them at
hotels and visits other CF affiliates. Her progress is a
testament to what a dedicated person can do with this program.
Yesterday she competed side by side with Carolina’s best and
represented CFW with class.
