Level 1 Instructor
My name is Jana and I am your early morning coach! I was born and bred here in North Carolina, so naturally I am a beach girl and love anything with salt water involved. When I am not lifting at the gym, I enjoy paddleboarding, swimming, fishing, scuba-diving, yoga, cycling and shooting guns with Tony’s company Alastar – TDSC. I’m also an avid traveler and have a strong sense of wanderlust.
Growing up I was always active, I swam on the swim team, played softball, rode in several horse shows and was a competitive dancer in ballet, jazz and tap. By high school I was competing in cheerleading competitions and dance shows until I developed a strong love of team sports. After playing State Games in Softball, Volleyball and Soccer I found my niche on the soccer field and continued to play in college.
Learning I had a love of fitness opened up many doors for me. I began personal training, teaching aerobics and hip hop classes and soon after started training for triathlons, including the Beach to Battleship and Ironman Miami 70.3.
After training several hours a day- almost every day of the week, I began to get injured more often. I began to understand what Tony had always told me… Crossfit is the smartest way to get fit and achieve your goals. Once I completely committed to Crossfit, my swim times decreased, my bike times were the fastest they had ever been, I scored more goals on the soccer field and overall completely morphed into a well-rounded athlete. CFW has given me the skills and tools I need to be successful in all of my life’s endeavors. I am a scuba PADI Divemaster, USCG Captain, US Master Swimmer, Wilmington Adult Soccer player and a Coastal Urge Competitive Paddleboarder. I am living proof that Crossfit works… and CFW is the place to be!
I became a CFW instructor to share my knowledge – and to give others the strength and skills CFW gave me.
