Level 1 Instructor
Anthony grew up as a sports nut, playing whatever was in season both competitively and during free time for as long as anyone was willing. Football was his primary passion, playing until his size and 40 yard dash time made it clear that this wouldn’t be his life’s work. For his fallback plan education seemed to be the answer. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, served four years as a Combat Medic with the 10th Mountain Division at Ft. Drum in New York, became certified to teach high school science, and has several graduate level science credits.
Fitness has always been a focus of his life, but like many, as he reached his 40s his conditioning was not what it should be. This despite following the generally recognized “right way” to eat and working out regularly. This high carbohydrate, low fat diet combined with running and lifting was not getting the job done. Following a mention of Crossfit by his brother, he researched this workout methodology and thought it sounded interesting. He and his wife Barbara, decide to join Crossfit Wilmington in September of 2010 and have discovered that it was everything they were looking for and more. He states that “This journey has truly been a life changing experience as the staff here at CFW has provided wonderful education in fitness movements, lifting technique, and nutrition resulting in both of us being in the best shape of our lives”. Based on the results achieved and the environment of camaraderie and accountability that is stressed at CFW, Anthony became a Crossfit Level I Instructor in early 2013 hoping to help others experience the same benefits.
