Level 1 Instructor
I have a completely awesome little family consisting of one little rambunctious boy and an equally exuberant husband. I played nearly every sport offered growing up through high school, but volleyball was my true passion. I was awarded a college scholarship and played for Newberry College for 4 years. Afterward, I moved to Wilmington and married the man I have been “dating” since 6th grade. I coached volleyball for years and loved it. Once I had Hank, I decided to hang my whistle up and save my weekends for him. I missed coaching, so when I was presented the opportunity to coach crossfit I couldn’t pass it up. Coaching is just plain fun. I really enjoy watching people come in with reluctance and leave with accomplishment every day I consider it a privilege to play an active role in that growth.
I love being outside with my family – at the beach, in the mountains, at the park – wherever. I also enjoy reading, board games and word games. If I can squeeze some volleyball in, I am a super happy woman. I started playing beach volleyball (doubles) with a college teammate of mine, which filled the competitive void I had been trying to fill since graduation. As we became more competitive, I wanted to stay in shape in the off season to reap the rewards during spring and summer tournaments. Little did I know, I was about to start a whole new fitness journey through Crossfit Wilmington. I have to say I am beyond grateful for the people I have met at Crossfit Wilmington. While our culture is diverse, our mindset is the same. We have the mamas, the uber professionals, the young ones, the old ones, and even the military variety. When we are on the floor, we are all just a bunch of people working out to better ourselves. I am a firm believer in being around people that will push you…intellectually, physically and spiritually. Crossfit Wilmington does these things all while making you look better in jeans.
Right now, I am focused on getting back to California for another go at the Crossfit Games with our team. I would like to refine some of my olympic lifting and possibly compete in a few large meets. In terms of my trainer goals, I want to keep learning and teaching the things I have learned. Facilitating an informative, challenging yet fun classes is definitely my primary goal.
