Sweet – let’s rock this Team Four!!
I have to say that I loved the energy on the Team Comp WOD #8 – it was awesome to watch everyone learning the barbell Turkish get-up, encouraging each other and sharing ideas and skills. Barbells were lifting up everywhere!! It most definitely was my favorite day at the new gym…pretty work!

Yeah… and with the way the morning crew has been doing things lately I wouldn’t be surprised! ha.

On the board it is written…
    For time…
    21 Thruster
    21 Pull Ups
    15 Pull Ups
    9 Thruster
    9 Pull Ups
    Run 1 mile

While that is different than the website, it is the same thing only written so we don’t have anyone running 90 miles tomorrow.

To better help you sleepy eye’d am’ers, there is also a map to clearly line out the 1 mile course. The stop sign relevant to this run is even drawn in on said map.

OH YEAH… the pull ups and the thrusters are two handed. The pull ups are on pull up bars and thrusters are with barbells. Actually, the thruster is with one barbell… that’s one barbell per person. There shouldn’t be any questions on the standards.

The run is forwards and you can use both feet or just one. If you choose to do it on your hands, you must go backwards.

    Any questions? ha.

Thanks t! I had planned on doing a slight crawl when I did the mile and now I feel better about the whole thing. 😉 One handed pull ups and thrusters never crossed my mind but, I will suggest them to team 4 in the morning.

    my lungs are still burning.

If you can do this when it warms up outside/the bars aren’t icicles, i would recommend that.

It was so cold.. So so cold. But, it is done and over. I think everyone made it around the correct 1 mile course and I even witnessed Shawn K running. It must have been the once a decade event that I have heard about.

Jupiter and Mars aligned a couple nights ago so I figured it was time to for ol’ pat and charlie to hit the pavement again. Thankfully, that’s my quota until about mid-2014.

Sorry Taylor, but its the world’s view, not mine. The artists (hippies, bums, hobos, free spirits, etc) of the world can only rely on their “creativity” for so long. Ha.

Morning crew quotes… “it’s early”. “It’s cold.” “It’s dark.” “The bars are icy.” “My fingers.” “My toes.” “My… my, my.” I’m not sure which you guys have more of, tears or excuses.

Also, is it true we need to do a shoulder press max? I hear rumor there is question of some of the full grown guys doing 200+ lbs. x 2 on Monday’s complex. Call outs are welcome. Actually, here we go…

New fun for the competition… if you’re team wants to take another team’s standing, challenge them to a call out!

Pick a workout that your team will go head to head with the team you challenge.
Post the challenge and the workout here to comments.
Challenged team must accept call out or automatically accept defeat and give up their standing.
Call outs (the actual workout) have to be done on Saturday mornings.
The challenging team must show up with at least 4 members.
The challenged team must do the best they can if the accept the call out.
The workout must be approved (for safety) by the commission (t., Josh, Cody)

If the challenged team wins they keep their overall standing and the challenger loses one spot in the overall rankings.

The 1st place team can call out a lower ranked team. If they win the challenged team loses a ranking. If they lose, they switch places with the team they challenged. This one is tricky, but a 1st place team threatened by a 2nd place team could drop that 2nd place team to third and further “secure” their 1st place rank. Gambling is fun.

Alright team samurai 7 challenges team 9 to:

    1000 burpees over a bonfire
( winner will be decided by the smallest average distance between the competitors feet and the fire for the 1000 jumps)

    Taylor don’t listen to T.

Alright team 3 who do you want to call out? Lets get with it! We have alot to make up might as well have fun. Is the team captain around in the AM? Has he disappeared, did the sled do him in? I do not know him. Kenny, I know you! Can you round them up or do I have to come in there tomorrow morning?
    Let’s get it on!

Debb, I’m unavailable on Saturday… unless you want part of the wod to be racing down the aisle at my cousin’s wedding. If so, I say we require Josh or Tony do burpees in a wedding dress at the altar.

I see no reason to do a shoulder press max. EVER.

excuses or no, morning crew is there at 5:30 or 6:00am, and on the rare occasion that one of you P.M.(s?)ers drags your butt outta bed, all I hear is “It’s so early” “I’m stiff” “I’m sleepy.” We might grouse, but we ain’t wastin’ any daylight! We dutifully get our suffering out of the way, and by the time the rest of you get the workout finished, you can’t even complain on the comment board because it’s already tomorrow! 😉

    Want more?

Polar Bear Ocean swim challenge anyone? Obviously I am not doing the Team Challege but I would happily wake up early on a Saturday to witness this event! Just a thought!!!!?? Haha

  • Andrew Geissler says:

    November 29, 2012 at 8:21 pm -

That is an excellent idea, Jenn. I am kind of jealous I did not think of it myself. I challenge Team 4 to an ocean swim race. Distance/ course of race can be determined if challenge is accepted and or approved. This Saturday morning will be gorgeous so a perfect opportunity to hit the surf. Your move team 4.
